The British Council and the Literature Translation Institute of Korea are supporting 6 UK literary editors to travel to Korea for a scoping and study trip in November 2013.

This is a fantastic opportunity for UK publishers and editors to learn about Korean literature, showcase literature from the UK, gain insights into the market and build long-lasting relationships with their counterparts at Korean publishing houses.

This trip is in preparation for the Korea Market Focus at The London Book Fair in April 2014. The London Book Fair Market Focus initiative is currently in its tenth year and has done much to open doors, creating both commercial and cultural partnerships around the world since it was first introduced in 2004.

The objective of the Market Focus is to put the spotlight on publishing trade links with the country or region that is showcased, highlighting its publishing industry, and the opportunities for conducting business with the rest of the world.

The British Council and the Literature Translation Institute of Korea will provide economy return flights from London, local transportation in Korea, and breakfast and lunch every day. All associated programme costs will also be covered. You will need to cover the costs of your evening meals and any other personal expenses. UK nationals do not require visas to enter Korea. Please inform us if you do not hold a UK passport.

You need to be available from November 25 to 29, 2013, excluding dates of travel (likely November 24 and November 30).

Deadline for applications: October 1, 2013.
