The residency is an opportunity for an artist working with moving image to create a new piece of work in response to the 2014 festival theme of “Border Crossing” and have the resulting work premiered at the festival.

In 2014 the festival will take it’s starting point as Berwick’s position at the heart of what was once known as the “debatable lands,” with an identity neither English nor Scottish but all of its own, the festival will cross borders, exploring border identities all over the world.

Applicants should be able to demonstrate a strong commitment to their artistic practice and evidence a body of work and strong track record, through new work, projects, exhibitions, publishing, and/or commissions. Part of this track record should be specifically in moving image work, though we applications from artists working across different art forms.

The artist will be expected to live and work in Berwick for the 6-month residency period and start at an agreed date between February and April 2014.

Shortlisted artists will be invited for interview on Tuesday December 17, 2022 in Berwick-upon-Tweed. International artists will be invited to interview via Skype.

The interview panel will consist of representatives from Berwick Visual Arts, Berwick Film & Media Arts Festival, Arts Council England and Marcus Coates, Artist and Co-founder of Berwick Film & Media Arts Festival.
