A Mother’s Secret Weapon Against Her Son’s Opiate Addiction: Saved By the Pouyan Method

Having lost one son to opiate addiction after failed attempts with traditional treatment, a determined mother searched for a new way to treat her youngest son’s heroin addiction. Dori Rota tells her story of how she found the Pouyan Method and success in treating addiction.

PASO ROBLES, Calif., / via PRNewswire /  There was no time to lose. This could not happen again. Dori Rota refused to lose another son to opiate addiction. She had to do it differently this time. She had to get it right this time. Her youngest son quickly became addicted to heroin when he tried it to see why his older brother used heroin. A desperate mother’s search began for a different solution.

She found the Pouyan Method at The Holistic Sanctuary and has now told her story on TALKInternational.com.

“We spent all day Saturday in the emergency room,” Dori Rota remembers. “They gave Brett an IV, a relaxant, and anti-nausea medication and prescriptions of the same to take home. We hoped this would help him until Monday when he would go to the Methadone clinic.

“Brett was hanging in there, doing the best he could. At least I knew he couldn’t get any heroin, and he was in my care. But the doctor’s words about avoiding Methadone stayed with me. I thought there must be a better solution. I felt uncomfortable settling for Brett to be enslaved to another drug, even if this one was legal. So I did what any mother facing a family medical crisis would do: I went to that strange and wonderful place called the internet.”

According to SAMHSA (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration), drug overdose is the leading cause of accidental death in the US. Of the 20.5 million Americans 12 or older that had a substance use disorder in 2015, 2 million had a substance use disorder involving prescription pain relievers and 591,000 had a substance use disorder involving heroin. In November, Virginia’s health commissioner declared opioid addiction to be a public health emergency.

It was clear to Ms. Rota that a conventional rehab center wasn’t going to work. She explains, “If current methods like Methadone or 12-Step programs are effective, then why do they fail at such a high rate?” Methadone has a 90% relapse rate in the first year. According to the Department of Justice, the typical drug rehab program has a relapse rate of around 70%. It is not unusual to hear about addicts participating in multiple rehab programs, only to relapse again and again.

Ibogaine comes from the root of the Iboga plant, which grows only in West Central Africa. It provides a psychedelic experience that also seems to reset the nerve receptors to a pre-addictive state. When the treatment is properly administered, the sensation of addiction is gone. It also often involves an introspective experience, which usually has a positive emotional effect on the user. Ibogaine itself is not addictive, but it is considered a Schedule I drug due to its psychedelic properties. Ibogaine is illegal in the United States.

The search for a solution to help her son led Ms. Rota to the Pouyan Method, which is an all-natural, customized proprietary course of treatment at The Holistic Sanctuary. By treating the root causes of addiction through a broad spectrum of brain repair therapies, patients experience permanent addiction recovery without prescription medication, pain or negative victimization. The results of these innovative therapies are documented through brain scans and state-of-the-art medical technology.

“I now have a better version of my son before his addiction,” said Ms. Rota. “He went from using two grams of heroin a day to being drug-free with no withdrawal symptoms in a matter of two weeks. I am grateful to The Holistic Sanctuary for providing effective treatment with the Pouyan Method. I am telling my story because I want mothers everywhere to know that there is an answer to drug addiction.”

The Holistic Sanctuary reports a 90% success rate for people in the two-week Pouyan Method program. For the four-week program, 99% of clients will become fully functional and free of withdrawal symptoms.
