NEW YORK CITY |  House of Peter James showcased its FW 2016 ready-to-wear collection. The James Collection Fall/Winter 2016 collection travels in time as it is inspired by the Renaissance period, filled with dark reds, greens, and royal blues with hints of gold. The Italian satin, silk chiffon and lace embellishments embody the rebirth of the gothic age.

After the runway show, the designer Peter James told me that this is his debut collection, and this show was his first participation in New York Fashion Week. A fashion stylist, James has worked for Unity Vintage Jean Co. and E! Networks. He studied at School of Visual Arts. His real name is Peter Curti.

Among the clothes in his collection, one of my favorites was the dark magenta gown which flowed across the beautiful Demi Barrington’s body.  James calls the number “our Roslin Gown.” She opened the show, and closed it as well with James in tow.

Sparkling in cobalt blue, the model Delaney Kluger showed off her long legs in the Mimi Gown.   And Natalie Lunter looked forbidding yet absolutely stunning in a black Starlet Gown.

House of Peter joined AMCONYC’s many Chelsea runway shows, subtitled “The Future of Fashion Is Now.”  The three-day presentation (from February 16 to 18) featured six other up-and-coming designers, including contemporary cool-girl Kasuni Rathnasuriya and fair-trade organic brand KATE by Katherine Tramposh. Tickets were surprisingly affordable ($12 per show), but the VIP ticket ($155) gave the public front-row seating and access to the after-party, where the industry chitchat lasted all day and went all night long.

In addition to House of Peter, OBDEC showcased their new line of jewelry during AMCONYC Fashion Week in a presentation form. The models were drenched in jewels.

Ane Amour, another featured brand, is trendsetting women’s apparel line produced in New York City. The brand presented their third collection since launching in November of 2015.  The collection was inspired by primal instinct and our connections as human to nature, incorporated into high-quality fabrics. The Ane Amour collection complemented the multi-faceted, modern day female, featuring dresses and interchangeable pairings.

Lastly, the concept of the Éva Michelle FW collection was entitled “Dark Roses.”  It was inspired by romance incorporating softer, feminine, flowing fabrics reminiscent of a classic love story and showcasing the stages of love and heartbreak. With young, fashion forward women in mind, the Dark Roses collection exuded sophistication and confidence. —rg
